Kursalon Wien: A New Chapter for the Vienna Residence Orchestra
Starting in spring 2027, the Vienna Residence Orchestra will perform at the Kursalon Wien in Stadtpark. Located right next to the Strauss Monument, the ensemble brings together the music of Strauss and Mozart with the historic atmosphere of the restored palace.
The Search for the New Music Director
From Selection Process to Final Decision
For the Vienna Residence Orchestra’s new concert series at the Kursalon Wien, a new music director was sought. From around 100 international applicants, Črt Lasbaher impressed in the final round and will take on the orchestra’s musical direction going forward.

On June 17, 2026, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra celebrates a very special double anniversary: the 270th birthday of the musical genius and the 245th anniversary of his “Viennese freedom” – with a festive concert dedicated to his music. This historic evening honors his unique legacy in Vienna, bringing together musical tradition and a celebratory atmosphere.
Johann Strauss (Son) – 200 Years of the Waltz King
On October 25, 2025, the Vienna Residence Orchestra celebrates the birthday of the “Waltz King,” Johann Strauss II, with a concert at the historic Vienna Stock Exchange, placing his music at the heart of the evening. This special concert marking his 200th birthday honors his unique legacy and combines musical tradition with a festive atmosphere.
New on the Program – The Sisi Dinner
The Vienna Residence Orchestra is expanding its cultural offerings with an extraordinary experience: the Sisi Dinner – Living History. This interactive play takes guests on a fascinating journey through time into the life of the famous Empress Elisabeth of Austria, affectionately known as “Sisi”
